Thoughts … On why you should care about getting publicity: It separates you from your competition. It raises your perceived level of competence, cache and desirability. People are willing to pay you more money – the perception is that you’re worth it, and you go from being a commodity to being an expert. It separates you from your competition. Calls or orders will start coming in from everywhere, not just your market. It creates more word of mouth, more buzz. It helps you get past gatekeepers – all of a sudden, you’re famous! It multiplies – before you know it, you’re being requested to speak, comment and serve as a credible authority. It increases the impact of your advertising, which may soon read: “As seen on Good Morning, America.”

QuiltWeekCharlotte, presented by the American Quilter’s Soiety came to Charlotte July 31 – August 2, 2014. This national show, attracting 15,000 people to the inaugural Charlotte show at the Charlotte Convention Center, is one of 12+ they sponsor in the U.S. every year.

AQS reached out to Red Rover to “get the word out.” We were charged with telling the story in advance to help build ticket sales and awareness as well as during the event to keep the momentum (and attendance) going.

We delivered a solid strategic approach to their media buy. Since it was their first time to market, we focused on reaching their target demo, but wanted to leave no potential market untapped!

We started months in advance posting the event to local community calendars and reaching out to news outlets and contacts. Armed with some amazing quilt images from AQS, we were able to start crafting a message about quilting today, how far it has come and some of the treats and treasures on display at the show.

And deliver we did! The inaugural show was a big success for AQS meeting projected attendance numbers and delivering happy vendors and visitors. We look forward to their return to Charlotte.
